How to increase web site traffic to my blog using back-door methods has been a major focus, with positive results way beyond my expectations … and all this due to the mighty Google’s aging website filter or sandbox theory as it is more commonly referenced .. NB. The Sandbox filter effectively imposes a probationary period on newer websites, ranging between 2 - 6 months prior to awarding Page Rank.

Determined to use every other legitimate and free search engine optimization tip available to a Webmaster, I have been experimenting with back-door techniques to gain high Search Engine rankings, in my quest to prove that it is not necessary to hold a Master’s Degree in Computer Science to rise to prominency in the SERPs … and that you may be included in the influential Google directory and search results without first having a decent Page Rank.

The Marketing Defined Blog has reached Page 1 - Top 10 Rankings for its title or keyphrase of: Marketing Defined — and this Blog is a mere 3 months old today:

• Google: No. 5 and 7 Ranking on Page 1 (33,600,000 competing pages)
• Yahoo: Top Ranking 1 on Page 1 (19,500,000 competing pages)
• MSN: Top Rankings 1 and 2 on Page 1 (974,654competing pages)

The question has been asked, “do you really submit to all those directories” ? (referring to a recent Post in this Blog on ” How To Get More Links and Traffic To a Blog “) Yes… most certainly I do, is the answer to that one .. and the four that have brought this Blog, consistent high rankings for highly competitive keyphrases and regular new subscribers are:

• Technorati: the use of Technorati Tags has been instrumental in consistent new traffic to this Blog … for those of you who don’t use them … pity, you are leaving money on the table so to speak, the targeted traffic from Technorati is invaluable … (refer to the above referenced link on how to use Technorati Tags to your benefit).
  To cite one example, on each occasion I publish a new post and ping Technorati (via Pingomatic) … , an Adsense tag used in a Post published in this Blog in January of this year, still brings me to the top of the current daily Adsense Tag searches/enquiries at Technorati, end result… continuous, daily targeted traffic from Technorati.
  Another huge bonus: a number of Posts via the magic of Technorati Tags are at Top 10 rankings for competitive keywords in the SERPs.
• WWWcoder : Well, the excellent additional top rankings at Google for this Blog speaks for itself as to the importance of submitting your Blog to this directory … and,

  See a comment from Patrick Santry of WWWCoder at the foot of this Post which not only explains their manual approval process for inclusion in the directory, but highlights what sets the WWWCoder site apart from many of the other coder or vertical directories.
  Patrick said: ” we rely heavily on spidering RSS feeds, and providing a direct link back to the site. Many directories use a redirect script to a site, redirects will do very little to your search results and future PR for your site, look for directories that provide a direct link.”

• Complete RSS : Another Blog directory that has brought in high Search Engine rankings for us.
• Portal Eatonweb : An influential Blog directory with similar good results. Inclusion of our SEO and Marketing Blog has seen page 1 results at Google for highly competitive keywords: for example Marketing World has between 13,000,000 to 26,000,000 competing websites, and again we have a top 10 Google SE ranking amongst these.

There are certainly many other Blog directories, which will bring your Blog the targeted traffic you desire (please see the Site Map in the sidebar for Posts detailing a comprehensive list of such directories) … and if you have similar good results with others not listed above, please leave your comments at the end of this Post.
