Search engine optimization for MSN beta search

This post includes research provided by Wayne Hurlbert into search engine optimization for MSN beta search..

MSN… at the date of writing, is still in Beta and may well change prior to “going live” .. updates to be posted on this Marketing Defined blog when to hand.

Some key points of Wayne Hurlbert’s article:

As with the other major search engines, MSN Search requires relevant content, and quality incoming links featuring keyword rich link alt text.

That said, there are some differences, and similarities with Yahoo and Google’s preferences.

After all, all search engine algorithms, while similar in many basic ways, are unique in their requirements in other areas of search engine optimization.

and …

..the first and probably most important aspect of the MSN Search Beta is the need for good keyword rich content. Relevance of theme and topic appears to be very important to MSN, as it is becoming for Google optimization.

There are also additional considerations for levels of on page keyword density that differ somewhat from Google.  MSN seems to strongly dislike keyword stuffing, and will drop a site’s ranking accordingly.

The other key requirements of affordable SEO, for the MSN Beta search engine are available directly via Wayne Hurlbert’s article “MSN search engine beta optimization techniques”

In addition to the obvious benefits of this coverage to all seo enthusiasts, the article serves as a “refresher course” for those who sway away from the essential key, legitimate techniques to onpage and off page optimization…

Wayne Hurlbert thankfully does not weigh this article down with unnecessary technical reference .. a trend other seo specialists will hopefully emulate… allowing this critical field of internet marketing to reach the masses ! … well, I can only hope.
